​The Local Elections Act outlines the rules governing campaign contributions. Candidates cannot accept anonymous donations.

Alberta residents and corporations may contribute up to $5,000 to a municipal election candidate. Candidates are required to record the name and address of the contributor as part of their campaign disclosure statements. No tax receipts are issued for municipal contributions.

The Local Elections Authorities Act requires candidates to disclose financial contributions before the election.

Host a Porch Chat
Want to bring neighbours together for a conversation about Banff’s future?
Host a Porch Chat with me, Michelle Backhouse. These are small, casual gatherings (5–12 people) held in your yard, driveway, porch, or front step. No fancy setup needed, just a welcoming space to connect in an informal way.
You set the date, time, and invite 5-12 of your neighbours. We’ll spend about 45 minutes talking, sharing ideas, and I’d be happy to answer questions. It’s a simple, inclusive way to build community and discuss what matters most.
